Garbha Samskara(ગર્ભ સમસ્કારા)

Garbha Samskara (Sacraments) is made of two words Garbha and Samskara. Garba means fetus and Samskara means to replace bad qualities by good ones.

Garba Samsara are performed to endow future generations with good health, noble quality and high intelligence by improving the innate quality of mankind. And it is achieved by educating fetus for attaining a civilized, cultured, brilliant, beautiful, disease free offspring with physical strength and other qualities like humanity, sincerity, compassion, spirituality, loyalty, courage etc.
These cultural events enhance child growth and development. These events also play vital role in early detection of any abnormality in child’s growth and development.
Samsara are known as cultural ceremonies. Samskar are important cultural events in an individual’s life right from the conception to death.
Swarnaprashan(સુવર્ણપ્રાશન ) helps in better intellectual growth and improved immunity.
Samskara’s like Jatakarma, Annaprashana, Karnavedhana, Nishakramana, Upanayana etc have great importance in one’s life.
Samskara’s like Nishakraman, Upveshan, Suryadarsanand Chandra Darshana work as an important tool of assessment of growth and development in children at different ages.
Samskara’slike Karnavedha enhances child immunity. Phalaprashan and Annaprashan provide essential nutrients in the form of micro and macronutrients to the child.
Aksharlekhan or Vedarambha Samskara has great importance in child personality development.

Jatakarma Samsara : The first Samskara is to be done after birth is Jatakarma Samskara’s. Acharya Susruta said that baby should be given to ingest a mixture of honey, Ghrita and Ananta(Gold) which also helps in triggering the initial immunisation & provides energy to newborn. This mixture(Ghrita) contains Omega-3 fatty acid and DHA, which helps in better brain growth and development.

From religious perspective Samskara are done for ritual purposes. The word Samsara is derived from the Sanskrit root meaning "to refine". In the classical Sanskrit literature, the word Samskara is used in a very wide sense: in the sense of education, cultivation, training, making perfect,refining, polishing, embellishment, impression, form, mould, operation, impression on the sub-conscious mind, a purificatory rite, a sacred rite or ceremony, consecration, sanctification and hallowing; idea, notion and conception; effect of work, merit ofaction etc.
According to the seers, Samskaras impart a higher sanctity to life Impurities associated with the material body are eradicated by performing Samskara. The Samskara are a form of spiritual endeavor Sadhana) - an external discipline for internal spiritual edification.
Every Samskara has its own importance at the respective age, targeting the specific expected milestone of human life.
